Aaron Hernandez fiancee Shayanna Jenkins was indicted on perjury charges according to ESPN.com news services. It wasn’t clear what exactly the charge was for, so it seems that this is a publicity stunt to bring media attention back to the trial. When the Aaron Hernandez murder plot first broke, the media ran with it, and began to link Hernandez to a drive-by shooting in Boston, and multiple shootings in Florida.
It seemed like this murder trial was a slam dunk case, but now the state has to pressure his fiancee? It’s not what you know but it’s what you can prove, and the state knows that so they should have kept a lid on the case at the beginning because now they look incompetent. This seems to be an act of pure desperation because if what they say about Hernandez is true, then a perjury charge isn’t going to scare his girl, or if it does, she would be still be too scared of him to testify against him anyway. This type of bungling makes it look more like Hernandez and all of his co-defendants may be getting off.
Would anyone be surprised if Hernandez got off? O.J. got off, Ray Lewis got off, and Dante Stallworth got off, so why not Hernandez? There is a disturbing trend where people with money seem to get away with murder. It’s not just football players because eccentric music producer Phil Spector escaped his first murder trial, but not the second. It makes sense because people become lawyers for the money, and the money is in defense, so the best lawyers will be defense attorneys. This goes to show that the saying, “Mo money Mo problems”, is b.s. because whatever problems money brings it can also get you out of them.
